Land Acknowledgement

Present day lived experiences of Indigenous people in Canada include being at the receiving end of systemic discrimination and racism, gender based violence and erasure, dehumanization and ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma. Knowing this truth requires us all to do our part to advance Call to Action #92 from the Truth and Reconciliation Report released in 2005.

As a settler on stolen land, I take time to honour and respect that I live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. I continue to seek ways to understand how to stand in meaningful solidarity with Indigenous People’s to advance reconciliation in my work and life.
